Our Vision & Mission
Our school is a Catholic school with Gospel values at the core of all we do. All members of our school community live by our Catholic ethos and Gospel values. This underpins all we do at our school, from forming relationships to academic achievement and school improvement. Our vision and values are evident in the children's great attitudes towards their learning and everyone's positive relationships with each other in school. Our DCET values underpin everything that we do here at St Louis. They are: Love, Respect, Resilience, Stewardship, Forgiveness and Curiosity. Further details on these values can be found on our Dunstan Catholic Educational (DCET) page.
Our children live out our mission on a day to day basis. The children show kindness and compassion to those around them and support each other in a range of different situations. Throughout the year we take a range of opportunities to reflect on how we can make a difference to others and make the world a better place to be.
Chaplaincy Team
Our Chaplaincy Team are a group of children across the school who aim is to promote the Catholic Life of the school. We are proud to help others learn about and follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Where possible, we work with other Catholic schools within the Diocese and our DCET trust.
Events, Activities and Visits
Our school Chaplaincy Team have taken part in many events and activities. We have attended the Commissioning at Clifton Cathedral, Video Conferenced with other Chaplaincy Teams within DCET to discuss our Live Simply award and much more.
We plan opportunities for Prayer and Liturgy, charity events and reflection clubs with other year groups. Each term, we lead the whole school in Celebration of the Word in which we share how we have seen the children in our school living out that term's Gospel Value.
We were involved in designing our Chapel which all the children visit on a regular basis. We also redesigned, and lead the whole school in creating, our new Prayer Garden, which was opened officially by Bishop Declan in October 2023.
Charity and Community Work
Catholic Social Teaching is at the heart of what we do here at St Louis, and this means that we actively work with both local and global charities to support those most in need. Some of the charity work that we have done so far includes:
- Our annual collection for Fair Frome Food Bank
- Our annual CAFOD Lent fundraiser
- Emmaus Water Aid Day
- Fundraisers for EduKaid
- A variety of Charity events throughout the year
Please see our annual calendar of fundriaisng and charity work that we plan to carry out.
As well as wanting to make a positive difference to others through charity work, we also recognise the importance of being active citizens within our community. This supports the children in knowing that one small action can have a positive impact on those around them. In this way, we are following the teachings of Jesus and living as God would want us to.
We have established a close link with Rosetti House, a local residential home, where our children visit termly and take part in a range of activities with the residents. The children have also completed litter picks in the area and one of our children was so inspired through our value of stewardship he is pioneering work with the Frome Mayor to make Frome a plastic bag free town.
Bishop Declan's visit to St Louis
Just before he retired, Bishop Declan came to visit us in October 2023 to officially open our Prayer Garden. He met with Chaplaincy Team for a tour of the school and the Prayer Garden and said a special blessing to open the Prayer Garden.
