PSHE (personal, social and health education) & RSE
Through PSHE we promote children's understanding of themselves on a physical and emotional level. All children learn how to stay healthy and keep safe. Children are also taught to respect the differences between people.
We use two schemes to support our PSHE- Jigsaw and Ten:Ten. Jigsaw is the overall programme of study used in school. Alongside this we use the Ten:Ten scheme which is our RSE scheme (Relationship and Sex Education) used at St Louis. It has been written so that year on year the children build on their knowledge and awareness. It has been developed for use in Catholic schools and also supports the Religious Education, PSHE and Science curriculum taught within the school.
As with all aspects of learning, children are naturally curious and many will have questions related to their lessons. Opportunities to discuss questions form part of the lessons and again these are treated with care and understanding. A Ten:Ten highlights the importance of parental input and children will be told to discuss their lessons at home. As a parent, you have the right to withdraw your child from Sex Education at anytime if you wish to do so.

What is Life to the Full?
